Objective To investigate the joint action mechanism of structural empowerment, psychological empowerment and job satisfaction of nursing staff in China, and probe into a joint action mechanism of such structure and empowerment on their satisfaction. Methods Totally 300 nurse specialists from secondary and tertiary hospitals in Anhui province were selected in a convenience sampling for investigation,by means of a general information questionnaire,Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire,Conditions of Work Effectiveness Questionnaires-Ⅱ and Psychological Empowerment Scale. Results The nurses′job satisfaction were positively associated with both their total scoring and individual dimensions of the structural empowerment and psychological empowerment. As shown in the structural equation modeling, the model (the pathway from structural empowerment to nurses′ job satisfaction and the mediating effect of psychological empowerment are significant)fitted the data well. Conclusions Nursing managers can use the empowerment theory to fully leverage their management advantages, creating a desirable environment for the nursing staff at large.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the structure of leadership questionnaire for nursing managers. Methods A total of 184 head nurses in Anhui were investigated with the leadership questionnaire for nursing managers.SPSS13.0 and AMOS17.0 software were used to test the reliability and validity. Results The correlations between the items and total scale ranged from 0.431-0.687(P<0.05 or P<0.01) and the Cronbach' sα was 0.841.Single factor analysis results indicated that all factor loadings to their items were 0.542-0.782(P<0.05).The multiple factor analysis results showed that first-order factors model and second-order factors model of leadership for nursing managers fitted well. Conclusion The leadership questionnaire for nursing managers is proved to have good psychometric characteristics and can be used to assess the leadership of nursing managers.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the empathy of clinical nurses and analyze the influencing fac-tors.Methods Totally 465 clinical nurses were investigated with demographic data and interpersonal Reactivity Index-C (IRI-C).Results Mean score of the empathy of clinical nurses was (53.77±8.99)points with a medium level.Age,working years, whether or not to engage in management work were the main predictors of empathy. There were no significant differences in nurses with different genders, marital status, professional titles, education degree, hospital grades. Conclusions The length of the working years is one of the important factors of nursing unit.Common clinical nurses should be involved in the nursing manage-ment.Clinical nurses should pay attention to the study and discussion about empathy knowledge in order to improve their level of empathy.

ABSTRACT

Objective In order to evaluate the nutritional effect of early enteral nutrition in patients of Chinese domestic gastric cancer surgery, using evidence-based medicine methods, and supply evidence for clinical nutrition intervention. Methods CBM,Chinese academic Journals,Wanfang database and VIP Information Resource System were searched from January 2000 to March 2013 to collect the published clinical randomized controlled trials literatures of nutrition support in patients of Chinese domestic gastric cancer surgery according to inclusion and exclusion criteria of literature, using the Cochrane System Evaluation Handbook independent,double-blind principle of the literature methodology quality evaluation. Finally Meta analysis was conducted by using RevMan5.2 software. Results 14 articles were enrolled in the study,Meta analysis results showed that:early enteral nutrition comparing with parenteral nutrition in postoperative gastric cancer patients:the WMD of serum albumin was 1.55,95% CI (0.81,2.29); the WMD of serum transferrin was 0.34,95%CI (0.30,0.38);the WMD of postoperative anal exhaust time was-20.66,95%CI (-23.91,-17.40).Conclusions Early enteral nutrition is better than the parenteral nutrition, which can restore adequate serum protein source for patients, and can recover the gastrointestinal digestion and absorption function of itself earlier, which is worthy of clinical promotion.

ABSTRACT

Objective Construction of a predicting model of uncertainty in illness based on Mishel's theories of uncertainty in illness in a sample of the postoperative patients with digestive system tumors undergoing chemotherapy. Methods By convenient sampling method,MUIS-A,MSAS,SSRS were used to evaluate 484 postoperative patients with digestive system cancer during chemotherapy period, and then AMOS 17.0 software was used to perform analysis. Results The score of uncertainty in illness of postoperative patients with the digestive system cancer undergoing chemotherapy was in the medium level (89.86+11.84) points; Structure provider (social support, economic income) could not only reduce the uncertainty directly, but also had an indirect effect on the uncertainty by stimuli frame (symptoms pattern, event familiarity). Conclusions Structure equation model can be applied to the uncertainty in illness model construction,so as to help medical staff manage uncertainty in illness pertinently.
